Update from ALC office, Gurgaon

Police lathicharge over 350 workers of ASTI (on dharna for 46 days) and Munjal Kiriu (on strike for 86 days) in front of Gurgaon Labour commisioners office now where they had marched at 10am this morning with their demands for justice.

Stand in solidarity with struggling workers!

Police initially picked up worker leader Raghuvendra of ASTI, but had to release him after facing workers resistance. Management goons and the paid-up local contractor lobbies are constantly threatening the workers by phone calls and by going to individual workers’ rooms.

The demonstration is continuing in front of the Labour Office, after a protest in front of DC. The Police is presently saying that they will ‘allow the demonstration till 4pm only’ and have threatened ‘dire consequences’ if the demonstration continues after that. An atmosphere of terror continues…
