Delhi – National convention on forest rights, land acquisition and mining, Dec 12


The Campaign for Survival and Dignity, a national platform of tribal and forest dwellers’ organisations, is holding a National Convention on the issues of forest rights, land acquisition and mining on December 12, 2012 at the Indian Social Institute, Lodhi Road.

* More than 400 adivasis and forest dwellers from 12 States will attend. The Convention will also be joined by other friendly organisations.
* The Convention will be attended and addressed by political leaders from the CPI, the CPI(M), the Congress, the CPI(M-L) Liberation, the RSP, the JD(U) and the DMK to present their position on these issues. Political leaders are likely to join the Convention in the afternoon.
* The Convention will also be addressed by the Central Minister for Tribal Affairs and Panchayati Raj, Shri Kishore Chandra Deo, at 4 pm.

The Convention will put forth a charter of demands to ensure that the natural resources of this country are controlled in a democratic and transparent fashion for the benefit of the majority of the people in this country.
